colour and crescendo
led by Jessica Kent
Working in partnership with the local Arts for Health team, and under the guidance of Jessica Kent, four artists worked with inpatients at the Redwoods mental health facility. Through exploration or artforms, listening and sharing, the project drew from people’s responses to the pandemic through the medium of visuals/drawings/paintings and words.
The artists shared and performed, and facilitated creative making. Those involved were: visual artist Debbie Todd, poet Jean Atkin, and from Manchester Camerata Orchestra, violinist Sarah Whittingham, and pianist and composer Richard Taylor.

“Such a delight to hear live music again! First time since Feb 2020! Vivacious, glorious, strangers exchanging smiles above our masks”.
“Fabulous, uplifting, really lifts the spirits. Everyone is swaying! Wonderful musicians are filling the room with their magical music”.
“Thank you for the relaxing and spirited music. It has brightened our day – glad we made it off the ward for this!
